January Favourites

Let’s just not go into that conversation that it is already February shall we? Instead, I would like to start a new series here on the blog. I love seeing & reading Top 5 and Top 10 products or monthly favourites from other people. It always inspires me to get out of my comfort zone and try out something new. I think I did well in January as I discovered so many new products so I thought I share them with you guys. Obviously most of them are food products. Surprise, surprise.

Coconut Merchant Coconut Jam

Coconuts are boss. Fact. All coconut product is really high in fat and fat tastes good. It is as easy as that. However, it contains medium chain fatty acids which give your body instant energy and it doesn’t get stored in the fat cells. Hooray!

Since I discovered Coconut Jam there is no way back.… Hit this button

Turmeric Roasted Chickpeas

Despite the fact that I have one of the sweetest tooth out there, sometimes it is nice to snack on something savoury. It is even more satisfying when that savoury alternative is actually healthy, requires couple of ingredients and an oven. Ultimate favourite is vegetable crisps, however, after all that holiday indulgence I really need to cut back on my snacking habit. Hello Roasted Chickpeas!

Roasted Chickpeas

I like chickpeas. I mean I like hummus. The peas themselves, well they have a very mild flavour. That’s why they are perfect to sprinkle them with all those strong, aromatic spices like turmeric, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper. So this is exactly what we are doing here.

Sprinkle some spices and salt on top, add a glug of oil, mix and roast them until they gold & brown. Basically look almost burnt. Then devour in immediately.

These spicy crunchy delights are delicious in salads too.… Hit this button

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2016! I don’t know what to say really. In the last couple of months I kinda lost my way in the healthy eating-working-out-machine. I got tired of being in control. All. The. Time.

It is easy to say have everything in moderation, work out just three times a week and sleep at least 8 hours. Easy peasy right?

Well not really. Finding balance is much harder than we think. I like healthy food, actually I do like kale. Although that Nutella also tastes quite nice smeared on my refined-sugar free toasted banana bread. And here is a thing, I need to find a balance between these things, enjoy myself and most importantly not letting any guilt crossing my mind.

After letting all this go I’m very looking forward to this year as there is a lot going on right now in my life. From now on I will be a contributor for Huffington Post Lifestyle (whoop-whooop!), you can read my posts there as well.… Hit this button

Chilli, Cheddar and Coriander Cornbread

Cornbread muffins
I got fed up with the health industry. From all media channels I hear you should eat only plant-based, you shouldn’t eat dairy, if you are eating meat you are cruel and gluten is the devil itself. Can we just stop and think for a moment? Can I eat a thing without being judged? Can I eat something without judging myself? Despite the fact that I’m 26, so more or less an adult, I totally got influenced by today’s society expectations that you need to eat very, very healthy. I ditched my favourite plain greek yoghurt, didn’t eat my favourite cakes and started to search for just alternatives. I’m not saying that those foods are not tasty and I don’t like them,  I’m just saying that I would like to have my favourite, traditioal dishes without being judged and seen as a person who doesn’t care about her body. Because I do, but I also care about my clear state of mind.… Hit this button
